HEALTH, SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENT

CASHES POLICY

Norifice has a set out policy on the key issues of Community Affairs, Health safety, Environment and Security (CASHES). This policy is an indication of our strong commitment to CASHES matters. So, we strongly affirm our commitment to this policy and the responsibilities implied. A CASHES policy can only be as good as those who implement it, therefore, you are expected to do a great deal of work to see that this policy is followed and strictly adhered to. It is very important to note here that, every good business management goes hand in hand with a good CASHES management, hence they both are inseparable.

Norifice thus strives to maintain a very excellent CASHES policy because a good CASHES management is also a good business management.

DRUGS, ALCOHOL & WEAPONS POLICY

In the interest of maintaining safe, orderly and efficient operations, illicit narcotics and related materials, alcohol, guns and other weapons/fire arms are highly prohibited.

Their use or possession by all our employees while working or residing on any job site including waterborne operations or property/facility under the control of Norifice Systems Nig. Ltd may result to immediate dismissal. This rule applies to all operations and locations on a 24-hours basis.

Norifice will conduct periodic unannounced searches and screening of personal effects and lockers on site to be sure that none of our personnel is in possession of any of such illegal or unauthorized items. Employees will be required to submit to periodic alcohol and drug test (Urinalysis or blood tests) or when specific circumstances warrant, our personnel will be tested according to DOT regulations for alcohol. If a suspected personnel's urine/blood tests positive for alcohol/drug, such personnel will be rehabilitated by counselling and necessary treatment but will be disallowed from performing safety sensitive duties for the time being. Where such personnel indulges repeatedly in the same unsafe act, then the termination penalty will be applied. Employees may be subjected to voluntary searches prior to mobilisation to our work locations and at all times while on site, warehouses, yards, jetty, company premises or houseboats etc. In the event that the company discovers such illegal or unauthorized items in the possession of an employee, such items and/or materials MUST be reported and released to the appropriate law enforcement agency for further action followed by a very stringent reprisal on such victim with termination of appointment.

NO SMOKING POLICY

Smoking is not only injurious to health but it is also a potential safety hazard. Smoking in public places exposes non-smokers to health-related hazards and it is the duty of Norifice to protect all its employees from unnecessary exposure to hazards. So, our Policy on smoking is thus;

The smoking of cigarettes, cigars, or pipes is prohibited in conference/meeting rooms, corridors, and public areas. Only smoking in designated areas is allowed.

 

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION POLICY

All operations of Norifice shall be planned and executed in such a way as to minimize any adverse effects or impacts on the environment in which we work.

We shall promote and encourage plans, activities, and programs aimed at environmental protection and preservation. All personnel are encouraged to give appropriate regard to the environment by protecting it from adverse effects. All wastes generated in course of our operations are collected, handled, treated and disposed off in an environmentally friendly manner. Discharge of pollutants into the air, or in water bodies is strictly prohibited.

All such disregard to environmental laws must be reported immediately.

"The environment is our common home. We must protect it".

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT POLICY

For us to be able to properly monitor the requisition, issuance and use of PPE in the company, Norifice shall follow the under listed measures to effect the control of the above-mentioned policy:

  • All requisitions for bulk procurement shall be raised by the HSE Department after an annual PPE audit.

  • The procurement Department shall purchase the requested PPE.

  • After procuring, the HSE department shall conduct adequate inspection

  • There shall be a dedicated storage area for all PPEs after inspection

  • The head of Department shall raise PPE form to HSE for cross checking to see if a personnel is due for collection

  • The HSE department after cross checking shall send the collection for approval before the requested PPE will be issued.

  • The issuance shall be properly logged by the HSE and materials department respectively using Staff PPE request form. A copy of the PPE issuance form shall be properly retained

  • In case of replacement, old PPEs should be returned before new ones are issued.

  • In case of theft or damage, a report/investigation will be carried out before issuance

Norifice shall not compromise any violation of this policy.

 

ACCESS POLICY

It is the policy of Norifice that all visitors to any site where we carry out our activities must adhere strictly to the guidelines stipulated at points of entry so as to safeguard life and property. To ensure the implementation of this policy, access will be granted at entry points to company facilities only when;

  • Seatbelts are worn at the point of entry/exit. The "NO Seatbelt, No Entry/Exit" rule shall be strictly enforced at gates leading to the company's premises.

  • A valid swimming pass must be presented at points of entry into any swamp/off-shore location.

  • Proper logging and issuance of visitors'/contractors' passes must be done at the gate area and must be worn at all times by the visitor/contractor within the company premises/location and returned at the gate on leaving the premises/location.

  • Appropriate Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn before entry.

  • Identification cards must be shown by either clients' representatives or employees.

  • All personnel must submit themselves for proper indoctrination.

  • On exit, all personnel (including visitors/contractors) must submit themselves for searching at the exit points before exit is granted.

ACCESS will be denied in the event that there is non-compliance with any of the above.

TEN COMPANY SAFETY RULES

All employees must strictly abide by the following company safety rules;

  1. Never start any operation without a valid authorization/Permit

  2. Properly use and care for all personal protective equipment at job sites.

  3. Report all unsafe acts/conditions to your immediate superior.

  4. Keep all tools in safe working condition. Never use defective tools or equipment.

  5. Be alert and conscious at all times on site and keep off from under overhead loads.

  6. Only trained and authorized personnel are allowed to operate electrical equipment

  7. Verify and confirm all electrical equipment are isolated before work commences

  8. Practice very good housekeeping.

  9. The use of intoxicating drinks and illegal drugs while on site is highly prohibited

  10. Comply with all Federal, State, and Local Safety Laws as well as those of the employer
